Habitat for Humanity is a Non Governmental Organization dedicated to eliminating poverty through house building. It works with families in need, building homes for and with them. Starting in 1976, Habitat for Humanity has already built 200,000 homes for one million people, in more than 100 countries.

Habitat for Humanity is funded by families, volunteers, companies - such as Consolis - and other partners that also contribute voluntarily to the building process. Families benefiting from the projects own the homes through low-cost and long-term non-profit mortgages.

Starting from September 2007, Consolis will participate to four Builds per year around Europe and Northern Africa. This means that Consolis will regularly launch teams of 15 to 25 volunteers from all Consolis units to participate for one week in building a home for low-income families.

First project: Romania, 1st - 9th September 2007

The first project for Consolis is the “EuroHabitat BlitzBuild” in Radauti, Romania from the 1st to the 9th of September. This is a Build celebrating Romania’s entrance to the European Union. It will involve over 650 volunteers from all over Europe: families, volunteers, members of companies, etc. In five days, 27 homes will be constructed – one for every EU member country. Consolis will be in charge of the Finnish house. CEO Philippe Milliet and Group Vice-President Seppo Rajamäki will take part in this first project.
