Concrete has taken a new life

Being an industry leader is not just a matter of turnover. It also implies a certain ability to address the main challenges and to identify and exploit the specific opportunities. In the case of Consolis, they are two sides of the same coin.

On one side, our greatest challenge is to continue to convince our customers - owners, contractors, public companies, builder merchants, and their clients - of the many benefits that building with precast products will bring them:

- Less disruption around the construction sites and faster work completion;
- Reduced need for less qualified workers for on-site activities;
- Less exposure to weather conditions;
- Quality assurance linked to production in a controlled environment;
- Limited environmental impact due to reduced on-site activity.

On the other side, an equally important opportunity is to enhance the image of concrete products. Over the past few years, concrete has taken on a new life. Many original formulations have been developed, from self-compacting to ultra-high performance, composite with glass fibre…even flexible, extrudable or "transparent" concrete. Thanks to these innovations and the efforts of our engineering and marketing experts, we have a unique opportunity to place our products in new applications with new, previously unimaginable functionalities.

All this, plus the fact that concrete is perhaps the most environmentally friendly construction material, thanks to its unrivalled recyclability, will give this unique material the status it deserves in the industry.

Penetration of precast is usually measured by the percentage of cement production used this way. It ranges from less than 5% to close to 50% within the twenty countries where we operate. That certainly leaves us with some room for growth!
